2018-07-22net_sched: blackhole: tell upper qdisc about dropped packetsKonstantin Khlebnikov
[ Upstream commit 7e85dc8cb35abf16455f1511f0670b57c1a84608 ] When blackhole is used on top of classful qdisc like hfsc it breaks qlen and backlog counters because packets are disappear without notice. In HFSC non-zero qlen while all classes are inactive triggers warning: WARNING: ... at net/sched/sch_hfsc.c:1393 hfsc_dequeue+0xba4/0xe90 [sch_hfsc] and schedules watchdog work endlessly. This patch return __NET_XMIT_BYPASS in addition to NET_XMIT_SUCCESS, this flag tells upper layer: this packet is gone and isn't queued. 2015-10-09net/sched: make sch_blackhole.c explicitly non-modularPaul Gortmaker
The Kconfig currently controlling compilation of this code is: net/sched/Kconfig:menuconfig NET_SCHED net/sched/Kconfig: bool "QoS and/or fair queueing" ...meaning that it currently is not being built as a module by anyone. Lets remove the modular code that is essentially orphaned, so that when reading the driver there is no doubt it is builtin-only. Since module_init translates to device_initcall in the non-modular case, the init ordering remains unchanged with this commit. We can change to one of the other priority initcalls (subsys?) at any later date, if desired. We also delete the MODULE_LICENSE tag since all that information is already contained at the top of the file in the comments. Cc: Jamal Hadi Salim <jhs@mojatatu.com> Cc: "David S. 2008-01-28[NET]: Move Qdisc_class_ops and Qdisc_ops in appropriate sections.Eric Dumazet
Qdisc_class_ops are const, and Qdisc_ops are mostly read. Using "const" and "__read_mostly" qualifiers helps to reduce false sharing. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <dada1@cosmosbay.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2005-07-05[PKT_SCHED]: Blackhole queueing disciplineThomas Graf
Useful in combination with classful qdiscs to drop or temporary disable certain flows, e.g. one could block specific ds flows with dsmark. Unlike the noop qdisc it can be controlled by the user and statistic accounting is done. Signed-off-by: Thomas Graf <tgraf@suug.ch> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
