2021-07-20xfrm: Fix error reporting in xfrm_state_construct.Steffen Klassert
[ Upstream commit 6fd06963fa74197103cdbb4b494763127b3f2f34 ] When memory allocation for XFRMA_ENCAP or XFRMA_COADDR fails, the error will not be reported because the -ENOMEM assignment to the err variable is overwritten before. Fix this by moving these two in front of the function so that memory allocation failures will be reported. 2021-02-03xfrm: Fix oops in xfrm_replay_advance_bmpShmulik Ladkani

This happened in an SMP system when reordering of packets was present; A packet arrived with a "too old" sequence number (outside the window, i.e 'diff > replay_window'), and therefore the following calculation: bitnr = replay_esn->replay_window - (diff - pos); yields a negative result, but since bitnr is u32 we get a large unsigned quantity (in crash dump above: 0xffffff4b seen in ecx). This was supposed to be protected by xfrm_input()'s former call to: if (x->repl->check(x, skb, seq)) { However, the state's spinlock x->lock is *released* after '->check()' is performed, and gets re-acquired before '->advance()' - which gives a chance for a different core to update the xfrm state, e.g. by advancing 'replay_esn->seq' when it encounters more packets - leading to a 'diff > replay_window' situation when original core continues to xfrm_replay_advance_bmp(). An attempt to fix this issue was suggested in commit bcf66bf54aab ("xfrm: Perform a replay check after return from async codepaths"), by calling 'x->repl->recheck()' after lock is re-acquired, but fix applied only to asyncronous crypto algorithms. Augment the fix, by *always* calling 'recheck()' - irrespective if we're using async crypto. 2020-11-18net: xfrm: fix a race condition during allocing spizhuoliang zhang
[ Upstream commit a779d91314ca7208b7feb3ad817b62904397c56d ] we found that the following race condition exists in xfrm_alloc_userspi flow: user thread state_hash_work thread ---- ---- xfrm_alloc_userspi() __find_acq_core() /*alloc new xfrm_state:x*/ xfrm_state_alloc() /*schedule state_hash_work thread*/ xfrm_hash_grow_check() xfrm_hash_resize() xfrm_alloc_spi /*hold lock*/ x->id.spi = htonl(spi) spin_lock_bh(&net->xfrm.xfrm_state_lock) /*waiting lock release*/ xfrm_hash_transfer() spin_lock_bh(&net->xfrm.xfrm_state_lock) /*add x into hlist:net->xfrm.state_byspi*/ hlist_add_head_rcu(&x->byspi) spin_unlock_bh(&net->xfrm.xfrm_state_lock) /*add x into hlist:net->xfrm.state_byspi 2 times*/ hlist_add_head_rcu(&x->byspi) 1. a new state x is alloced in xfrm_state_alloc() and added into the bydst hlist in __find_acq_core() on the LHS; 2. on the RHS, state_hash_work thread travels the old bydst and tranfers every xfrm_state (include x) into the new bydst hlist and new byspi hlist; 3. user thread on the LHS gets the lock and adds x into the new byspi hlist again. So the same xfrm_state (x) is added into the same list_hash (net->xfrm.state_byspi) 2 times that makes the list_hash become an inifite loop. To fix the race, x->id.spi = htonl(spi) in the xfrm_alloc_spi() is moved to the back of spin_lock_bh, sothat state_hash_work thread no longer add x which id.spi is zero into the hash_list. 2020-11-05ANDROID: Temporarily disable XFRM_USER_COMPAT filteringAlistair Delva
Before 5.10-rc1, the upstream kernel blocked any compat calls into XFRM code with EOPNOTSUPP, however Android kernels had been patching this check out and made userspace match the 64-bit kernel netlink format instead. When the new XFRM_USER_COMPAT feature landed, it added a similar check in two places which returns EOPNOTSUPP only if the XFRM_USER_COMPAT feature is disabled, however that is currently always the case for Android kernels and we do not want to filter these callers. While we work to remove the userspace compatibility mess, disable the filtering of compat calls when XFRM_USER_COMPAT is disabled. If the XFRM_USER_COMPAT feature is enabled, nothing changes. Provide the user-to-kernel translator under XFRM_USER_COMPAT, that creates for 32-bit xfrm-user message a 64-bit translation. 2020-11-02UPSTREAM: xfrm/compat: Attach xfrm dumps to 64=>32 bit translatorDmitry Safonov
Currently nlmsg_unicast() is used by functions that dump structures that can be different in size for compat tasks, see dump_one_state() and dump_one_policy(). The following nlmsg_unicast() users exist today in xfrm: Function | Message can be different | in size on compat -------------------------------------------|------------------------------ xfrm_get_spdinfo() | N xfrm_get_sadinfo() | N xfrm_get_sa() | Y xfrm_alloc_userspi() | Y xfrm_get_policy() | Y xfrm_get_ae() | N Besides, dump_one_state() and dump_one_policy() can be used by filtered netlink dump for XFRM_MSG_GETSA, XFRM_MSG_GETPOLICY. Just as for xfrm multicast, allocate frag_list for compat skb journey down to recvmsg() which will give user the desired skb according to syscall bitness. 2020-11-02BACKPORT: xfrm/compat: Add 64=>32-bit messages translatorDmitry Safonov
Provide the kernel-to-user translator under XFRM_USER_COMPAT, that creates for 64-bit xfrm-user message a 32-bit translation and puts it in skb's frag_list. net/compat.c layer provides MSG_CMSG_COMPAT to decide if the message should be taken from skb or frag_list. (used by wext-core which has also an ABI difference) Kernel sends 64-bit xfrm messages to the userspace for: - multicast (monitor events) - netlink dumps Wire up the translator to xfrm_nlmsg_multicast(). 2020-11-02BACKPORT: xfrm: Provide API to register translator moduleDmitry Safonov
Add a skeleton for xfrm_compat module and provide API to register it in xfrm_state.ko. struct xfrm_translator will have function pointers to translate messages received from 32-bit userspace or to be sent to it from 64-bit kernel. module_get()/module_put() are used instead of rcu_read_lock() as the module will vmalloc() memory for translation. The new API is registered with xfrm_state module, not with xfrm_user as the former needs translator for user_policy set by setsockopt() and xfrm_user already uses functions from xfrm_state. 2020-10-14xfrm: Use correct address family in xfrm_state_findHerbert Xu
[ Upstream commit e94ee171349db84c7cfdc5fefbebe414054d0924 ] The struct flowi must never be interpreted by itself as its size depends on the address family. Therefore it must always be grouped with its original family value. In this particular instance, the original family value is lost in the function xfrm_state_find. Therefore we get a bogus read when it's coupled with the wrong family which would occur with inter- family xfrm states. This patch fixes it by keeping the original family value. Note that the same bug could potentially occur in LSM through the xfrm_state_pol_flow_match hook. I checked the current code there and it seems to be safe for now as only secid is used which is part of struct flowi_common. But that API should be changed so that so that we don't get new bugs in the future. We could do that by replacing fl with just secid or adding a family field. Then it will go to xfrm6_local_error() where it tries to get ipv6 info from a ipv4 sk. This issue was actually fixed by Commit 628e341f319f ("xfrm: make local error reporting more robust"), but brought back by Commit 844d48746e4b ("xfrm: choose protocol family by skb protocol"). So to fix it, we should call xfrm6_local_error() only when skb->protocol is htons(ETH_P_IPV6) and skb->sk->sk_family is AF_INET6. After that, the policies [1] and [2] would be able to be added with different priorities. However, policy [3] will actually match both [1] and [2]. Policy [1] was matched due to the 1st 'return true' in xfrm_policy_mark_match(), and policy [2] was matched due to the 2nd 'return true' in there. It caused WARN_ON() in xfrm_policy_insert_list(). This patch is to fix it by only (the same value and priority) as the same policy in xfrm_policy_mark_match(). Thanks to Yuehaibing, we could make this fix better. v1->v2: - check policy->mark.v == pol->mark.v only without mask. 2020-06-03xfrm: allow to accept packets with ipv6 NEXTHDR_HOP in xfrm_inputXin Long
commit afcaf61be9d1dbdee5ec186d1dcc67b6b692180f upstream. For beet mode, when it's ipv6 inner address with nexthdrs set, the packet format might be: ---------------------------------------------------- | outer | | dest | | | ESP | ESP | | IP hdr | ESP | opts.| TCP | Data | Trailer | ICV | ---------------------------------------------------- The nexthdr from ESP could be NEXTHDR_HOP(0), so it should continue processing the packet when nexthdr returns 0 in xfrm_input(). Otherwise, when ipv6 nexthdr is set, the packet will be dropped. I don't see any error cases that nexthdr may return 0. So fix it by removing the check for nexthdr == 0. 2020-05-10xfrm: Fix memory leak of aead algorithm nameIlan Tayari
commit b588479358ce26f32138e0f0a7ab0678f8e3e601 upstream. commit 1a6509d99122 ("[IPSEC]: Add support for combined mode algorithms") introduced aead. The function attach_aead kmemdup()s the algorithm name during xfrm_state_construct(). However this memory is never freed. Implementation has since been slightly modified in commit ee5c23176fcc ("xfrm: Clone states properly on migration") without resolving this leak. This patch adds a kfree() call for the aead algorithm name. 2020-05-10xfrm_user: propagate sec ctx allocation errorsMathias Krause
commit 2f30ea5090cbc57ea573cdc66421264b3de3fb0a upstream. When we fail to attach the security context in xfrm_state_construct() we'll return 0 as error value which, in turn, will wrongly claim success to userland when, in fact, we won't be adding / updating the XFRM state. This is a regression introduced by commit fd21150a0fe1 ("[XFRM] netlink: Inline attach_encap_tmpl(), attach_sec_ctx(), and attach_one_addr()"). Fix it by propagating the error returned by security_xfrm_state_alloc() in this case. Fixes: fd21150a0fe1 ("[XFRM] netlink: Inline attach_encap_tmpl()...") 2020-05-10xfrm: fix crash in XFRM_MSG_GETSA netlink handlerVegard Nossum
commit 1ba5bf993c6a3142e18e68ea6452b347f9cb5635 upstream. If we hit any of the error conditions inside xfrm_dump_sa(), then xfrm_state_walk_init() never gets called. However, we still call xfrm_state_walk_done() from xfrm_dump_sa_done(), which will crash because the state walk was never initialized properly. We can fix this by setting cb->args[0] only after we've processed the first element and checking this before calling xfrm_state_walk_done(). 2020-05-08BACKPORT: xfrm: Allow Output Mark to be Updated Using UPDSABenedict Wong
Allow UPDSA to change "output mark" to permit policy separation of packet routing decisions from SA keying in systems that use mark-based routing. The set mark, used as a routing and firewall mark for outbound packets, is made update-able which allows routing decisions to be handled independently of keying/SA creation. To maintain consistency with other optional attributes, the output mark is only updated if sent with a non-zero value. The per-SA lock and the xfrm_state_lock are taken in that order to avoid a deadlock with xfrm_timer_handler(), which also takes the locks in that order. 2020-04-02xfrm: fix uctx len check in verify_sec_ctx_lenXin Long
commit 171d449a028573b2f0acdc7f31ecbb045391b320 upstream. It's not sufficient to do 'uctx->len != (sizeof(struct xfrm_user_sec_ctx) + uctx->ctx_len)' check only, as uctx->len may be greater than nla_len(rt), in which case it will cause slab-out-of-bounds when accessing uctx->ctx_str later. 2019-09-16xfrm: clean up xfrm protocol checksCong Wang
commit dbb2483b2a46fbaf833cfb5deb5ed9cace9c7399 upstream. In commit 6a53b7593233 ("xfrm: check id proto in validate_tmpl()") I introduced a check for xfrm protocol, but according to Herbert IPSEC_PROTO_ANY should only be used as a wildcard for lookup, so it should be removed from validate_tmpl(). And, IPSEC_PROTO_ANY is expected to only match 3 IPSec-specific protocols, this is why xfrm_state_flush() could still miss IPPROTO_ROUTING, which leads that those entries are left in net->xfrm.state_all before exit net. Fix this by replacing IPSEC_PROTO_ANY with zero. This patch also extracts the check from validate_tmpl() to xfrm_id_proto_valid() and uses it in parse_ipsecrequest(). With this, no other protocols should be added into xfrm. 2019-02-20xfrm: refine validation of template and selector familiesFlorian Westphal
commit 35e6103861a3a970de6c84688c6e7a1f65b164ca upstream. The check assumes that in transport mode, the first templates family must match the address family of the policy selector. Syzkaller managed to build a template using MODE_ROUTEOPTIMIZATION, with ipv4-in-ipv6 chain, leading to following splat: BUG: KASAN: stack-out-of-bounds in xfrm_state_find+0x1db/0x1854 Read of size 4 at addr ffff888063e57aa0 by task a.out/2050 xfrm_state_find+0x1db/0x1854 xfrm_tmpl_resolve+0x100/0x1d0 xfrm_resolve_and_create_bundle+0x108/0x1000 [..] Problem is that addresses point into flowi4 struct, but xfrm_state_find treats them as being ipv6 because it uses templ->encap_family is used (AF_INET6 in case of reproducer) rather than family (AF_INET). This patch inverts the logic: Enforce 'template family must match selector' EXCEPT for tunnel and BEET mode. In BEET and Tunnel mode, xfrm_tmpl_resolve_one will have remote/local address pointers changed to point at the addresses found in the template, rather than the flowi ones, so no oob read will occur. 2018-11-10xfrm: Clear sk_dst_cache when applying per-socket policy.Jonathan Basseri
[ Upstream commit 2b06cdf3e688b98fcc9945873b5d42792bd4eee0 ] If a socket has a valid dst cache, then xfrm_lookup_route will get skipped. However, the cache is not invalidated when applying policy to a socket (i.e. IPV6_XFRM_POLICY). The result is that new policies are sometimes ignored on those sockets. (Note: This was broken for IPv4 and IPv6 at different times.) This can be demonstrated like so, 1. Create UDP socket. 2. connect() the socket. 3. Apply an outbound XFRM policy to the socket. (setsockopt) 4. send() data on the socket. Packets will continue to be sent in the clear instead of matching an xfrm or returning a no-match error (EAGAIN). This affects calls to send() and not sendto(). Invalidating the sk_dst_cache is necessary to correctly apply xfrm policies. Since we do this in xfrm_user_policy(), the sk_lock was already acquired in either do_ip_setsockopt() or do_ipv6_setsockopt(), and we may call __sk_dst_reset(). Performance impact should be negligible, since this code is only called when changing xfrm policy, and only affects the socket in question. [ Upstream commit 07bf7908950a8b14e81aa1807e3c667eab39287a ] We don't validate the address prefix lengths in the xfrm selector we got from userspace. Fix this by checking the prefixes and refuse SA/policy insertation when a prefix is invalid. 2018-09-05xfrm: fix missing dst_release() after policy blocking lbcast and multicastTommi Rantala
[ Upstream commit 8cc88773855f988d6a3bbf102bbd9dd9c828eb81 ] Fix missing dst_release() when local broadcast or multicast traffic is xfrm policy blocked. For IPv4 this results to dst leak: ip_route_output_flow() allocates dst_entry via __ip_route_output_key() and passes it to xfrm_lookup_route(). xfrm_lookup returns ERR_PTR(-EPERM) that is propagated. The dst that was allocated is never released. IPv4 local broadcast testcase: ping -b 192.168.1.255 & sleep 1 ip xfrm policy add src 0.0.0.0/0 dst 192.168.1.255/32 dir out action block IPv4 multicast testcase: ping 224.0.0.1 & sleep 1 ip xfrm policy add src 0.0.0.0/0 dst 224.0.0.1/32 dir out action block For IPv6 the missing dst_release() causes trouble e.g. when used in netns: ip netns add TEST ip netns exec TEST ip link set lo up ip link add dummy0 type dummy ip link set dev dummy0 netns TEST ip netns exec TEST ip addr add fd00::1111 dev dummy0 ip netns exec TEST ip link set dummy0 up ip netns exec TEST ping -6 -c 5 ff02::1%dummy0 & sleep 1 ip netns exec TEST ip xfrm policy add src ::/0 dst ff02::1 dir out action block wait ip netns del TEST After netns deletion we see: [ 258.239097] unregister_netdevice: waiting for lo to become free.
